The Ohio State football program has had a lot of momentum going for them on the field in recent weeks. They have been able to take down Penn State, Purdue, and Northwestern in the last three games. Only the Penn State game was close in the second half.
Off the field, things have been different. The recruiting trail hasn't exactly been a basket of good news for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the last few days. They had Zahir Mathis, a four-star defensive end, de-commit with just a few weeks left until Signing Day. Another four-star recruit is projected to flip to Miami too.
It's strange that the Buckeyes are having so much success on the field and they haven't been able to parlay that into success in closing out their 2025 recruiting class. The Buckeyes have two more big home games to host recruits and keep these commits happy with their decision.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they're going to be able to keep all of the guys that they have in their top-ranked recruiting class. There are three specific recruits who are at risk of changing their minds before Signing Day rolls around in December that Ohio State football fans should keep their eyes on.
The first recruit who is in danger of de-committing from Ohio State is actually one of the best recruits they have in this class.
1. Na'eem Offord
We've talked about Offord a lot in the last few weeks. Na'eem Offord is a five-star cornerback recruit who has been committed to the Buckeyes since February. He is rated as the third-best cornerback in the country. He's one of two five-star corners Ohio State has right now.
Offord has been shopping around since he committed to Ohio State. He recently visited Florida but has been linked to a few other schools recently as well. Auburn has been all over him for the last few weeks and was the leading contender for a while to flip him.
Oregon has emerged as a real threat to steal him recently. It would be one thing to lose Offord, who is from Alabama to a home-state school such as Auburn. It would be another to lose him to a school all the way across the country in Oregon, which is now a Big Ten foe.
If the Buckeyes lose to Offord to Oregon, that would be a crushing blow. He's a really good player and having him go to another powerhouse Big Ten school would be a big problem. While Offord has had several statements on social media indicating his loyalty to Ohio State, his actions suggest otherwise.
The next recruit on this list is another guy on the defensive line.
