Justin Fields' time in Chicago certainly wasn't one that many want to remember fondly, but at the same time, the former Ohio State quarterback was never really given a real chance. Dealing with an injury for a lot of his time in Chicago is really what plagued his first couple of seasons in the NFL, but once healthy, the Bears still wanted to cast him aside for a "better" player.
The Bears chose to trade Fields away in order to "upgrade" to Caleb Williams last year in the 2024 NFL Draft. While Williams showed some solid skill in the beginning, he has since fallen from grace. In his last eight games with the Bears, Williams is 1-7, and his offense is averaging just 17.5 points per game.
In Fields' last eight games with the Bears, when he was healthy, his record was 5-3 and his offense averaged 24.5 points per game. Those are pretty polarizing numbers to compare and show that the Bears really took what Fields did for them for granted.

After the Bears chose to trade him away to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Fields went on to play half the season as the starter, splitting time with Russell Wilson, but ultimately helping the Steelers reach the postseason, but was not the starter against the Baltimore Ravens, who ultimately beat the Steelers in the Wild Card round in 2024.
Now with the New York Jets, even though he lost his debut in a green uniform, Fields impressed by putting 32 points on the board against what in the past has been a very stout Steelers defense. Fields finished the game 16-for-22 for 218 yards, a passing touchdown, 48 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns.
The Bears, in their first game of the season under Williams, only scored 24 points against the Vikings and gave away a fourth-quarter lead when Williams was unable to take his team down to score.
While they may not admit it, Bears fans know they took Fields for granted and the numbers show it.
