The Ohio State football team has a unique way to honor its senior leaders. Every year, the team votes on one player to wear the Block O jersey. That jersey is the ultimate sign of respect for members of the Buckeyes. It's a cool tradition that has been going on for the last decade or so.

Last season, Sonny Styles was the one chosen to wear it. He certainly earned it with his leadership on the defensive side of the ball. He was one of the best linebackers in the country, and he was drafted in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft because of his strong play.

A lot of senior leaders left from last year's team. With that being the case, there are fewer candidates to wear the Block O this year. Even with that being true, there is a pretty clear favorite to win this honor and wear #0 for the Ohio State Buckeyes this year.

Brandon Inniss is the clear favorite to wear the Block O jersey

Brandon Inniss is the clear favorite to earn this award. He was voted a captain last year in his junior season. Now, he has one final year to make an impact with the Buckeyes. He is clearly well-respected by his teammates and his coaches, even if his production hasn't been strong.

Inniss will be leaned on to provide a strong amount of leadership this season. This year will also provide him with the biggest opportunity to produce at a high level. In Fall camp, he will battle to be the second-best receiver on the team with some new faces.

In his career, Inniss has never had more than 300 yards receiving. He has mostly been used as a slot receiver. Now, he will get an opportunity to move outside. He has to seize that opportunity and set a good example for the young players on the roster about hard work.

Ohio State won't vote on the Block O wearer for a while

Fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes won't learn who is wearing the Block O for a few more months. They are going to vote on who is going to wear that jersey in the Fall when practice first starts. After this summer, the players will have gotten a chance to see who is working the hardest in offseason workouts.

Inniss is the overwhelming favorite, but he's not the only candidate. Kenyatta Jackson is the best candidate on the defensive side of the ball. He is a senior defensive end who will be looking to play well enough to become a first-round pick. He will also be looked at to step up when it comes to leadership.

It's very likely that Inniss will end up wearing the Block O. What is unclear is if he will be able to produce at a higher level for his final year in college football. Production opposite of Jeremiah Smith is going to be key for the offense in a new system under Arthur Smith.
