For the last decade or so, the Ohio State football program has had a reputation for producing some of the best receivers in the country. Every year, they have a receiver go in the first round of the NFL Draft. That happened again this year when Carnell Tate was taken.

This upcoming season, the Buckeyes will once again have an All-American talent at the receiver spot. Jeremiah Smith is entering this year as the best offensive player in the country. He is going to produce big numbers, and that's not a concern for Ohio State.

What is a concern is the other receivers around him. After a lackluster performance from that position group in the Spring Game, they need someone else to step up. A lot of that pressure will fall on senior Brandon Inniss, who will try to make an impact in his final year as a Buckeye.

Inniss is the most experienced receiver on the team. Yet, he has never been a number two option for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He has mostly been a slot guy throughout his career. Even in that spot, his volume hasn't been high. Inniss has had 300 yards or more receiving in a single season.

With Tate gone, Smith is going to need someone to help take attention away from him on the outside. Chris Henry Jr. is an immensely talented freshman, as he is part of the fourth-ranked 2026 recruiting class. But he is a true freshman. Smith produced as a true freshman, but that is exceedingly rare.

Inniss will have to get a feel of how Arthur Smith wants to call games as the new offensive coordinator. Scheming up open routes for receivers is something he is going to have to do, as that has been a massive part of Ohio State's offense in the past.
