The Ohio State football team is trying to figure out who their new starting quarterback will be. After Will Howard led the team to a national championship, he is heading to the NFL. Now the Buckeyes will have to put a QB out there who hasn't had any real experience.
There is a battle going on between Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz for the job. When Spring practice started, Sayin was the favorite to win the job because of his pure arm talent and the fact that he was the number-one quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class.
While the Ohio State Buckeyes have these two battlle for the job, there has been a swing in the odds. After Student Appreciation Practice on Saturday, it looks like there might be a new leader in the clubhouse for the starting gig. Kienholz may have taken the lead.
Lincoln Kienholz might be the new favorite to land the starting quarterback job for the Ohio State football team
Kienholz was by far the best quarterback on Saturday. He was accurate with his passes and had a lively arm. He looked like he was in command of the offense. It was a very impressive performance for someone who has been seen as the backup for most of the Spring.
For Sayin, this is his second disappointing performance in the last couple of weeks. It seems that the consistency that Ryan Day preaches is not something that Sayin has been able to master. That's part of the reason why Kienholz might be the new leader for this job.
The Buckeyes are going to take this position battle into the Fall, so no decisions will be made until then. Still, this was something important for fans to see. They got to see both quarterbacks go at it and play their hardest.
The Spring Game is the next big test for these two. That will be in a stadium with thousands of fans, so that will be a good barometer.
