The Ohio State football team landed a recruit on Friday morning, but it's not one that's in either of the next two recruiting classes.

The Ohio State football program is mainly focused on bettering its 2026 recruiting class this summer. That doesn't mean that they aren't paying attention to recruits in other classes, but it's clear that 2026 is the priority since its' the next class that the Buckeyes will be signing.

Adding prospects from other classes is not something they are opposed to. That's exactly what the Ohio State Buckeyes did on Friday morning when they got a recruit to commit that's in the class of 2028, a class that won't sign in college for another two years.

Elijah Newman-Hall is a running back from the class of 2028. He was at a camp at Ohio State recently and scored an offer. He decided that he didn't want to be anywhere else. Newman-Hall decided to commit to the Buckeyes with still two-plus years before needing to sign.

Newman-Hall is from the state of Florida and stands at six feet tall and 200 pounds. He had 829 yards on 80 carries as a freshman in high school and had turned into the top prospect at the running back position for the Buckeyes in that class.

Carlos Locklyn continues to show that he is an excellent recruiter. The Buckeyes feel great with him talking to any recruit that they want to. He is someone who has shown that he can develop guys into great running backs, as well. Both TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins sang his praises last year.

Locklyn is still trying to land the top running back in the 2026 class, Savion Hiter. It's going to be an uphill battle to grab him from Tennessee, who seems to be the favorite at this point. Still, you can never count Locklyn out at this point, especially coming off a national championship.
