The Ohio State football team had to sit at home this past weekend. Instead of playing for a Big Ten title, the Buckeyes had to watch Oregon and Penn State duke it out. Because they lost to Michigan last weekend, Ohio State found themselves ranked as the eight-seed in the rankings last week.

A lot of interesting things happened during the conference championships. Oregon took down Penn State by a touchdown, Georgia beat Texas in overtime, and Clemson outlasted SMU by kicking a last-second field goal. All of those results affected where the Ohio State Buckeyes ended up.

The final CFP rankings have been revealed. The Buckeyes now know where they end the season and they know how good the CFP Committee thinks they are. We also know who the Buckeyes will play in the first round of the new 12-team College Football Playoff.

The Ohio State football team is ranked as the eight-seed in the final CFP rankings

According to the College Football Playoff Committee, the Ohio State football team is ranked as the eight-seed and ranked sixth in the final rankings. As I mentioned previously, the Buckeyes were ranked as the eight-seed before the conference championship games were played. It seems like the right spot for them.

As far as their opponent, the Buckeyes will take on the nine-seed, Tennessee. Penn State gets the six-seed and is ranked fourth. This is despite the fact that Ohio State beat Penn State at Happy Valley earlier in the year. That head-to-head was blatantly ignored.

Ohio State will host a home game. If they are able to win that game, they will take on Oregon in a rematch. This time, the game would be at a neutral site. Tennessee isn't a great team, but Ohio State is coming off a big loss to Michigan.

I disagree with the ranking, but we'll see what happens.
