The Ohio State football team needs another offensive line reshuffle
By Ryan Stano
Throughout the 2024 season, the Ohio State football team has had to reshuffle the offensive line several times. It started early in the year when Donovan Jackson was hurt for the first couple of games. The season-ending injuries to Josh Simmons and Seth McLaughlin have set more things in motion.
The offensive line combination against Michigan did not suffice. They were not able to get any push up front in the run game. Ryan Day and Chip Kelly decided to be stubborn and try to run the ball up the middle and the offensive line wasn't up to the task.
That means that the offensive line likely needs to be reshuffled again after that effort. They were afraid to make adjustments in the middle of The Game. Carson Hinzman clearly isn't a center. He's a guard, and that change needs to be made before the Buckeyes start their CFP run.

Hinzman was put at center in each of the last couple of games after he started at center all year long in 2023. His snaps came out weak and not on target. He's clearly a better guard than he is a center. Also, the Buckeyes have a clear issue at right guard with Tegra Tshabola.
Tshabola has been one of the weak points on the offensive line all year long. He needs to be replaced. The Ohio State Buckeyes need to move Austin Siereveld to right guard and swing Hinzman back to left guard where he was effective. That would mean putting Josh Padilla at center.
Padilla has yet to play any meaningful snaps at center. Having him start his first career game in the first round of the CFP would be scary. Even so, it might be the best thing for the offense to play better than they did against TTUN.
