The Ohio State football team might be slipping with one five-star recruit

Despite hosting him on a visit this past weekend, the Buckeyes might be slipping with this one five-star recruit.

The Ohio State football program had a ton of prospects on campus this weekend. There were several four and five-star recruits in Columbus as the Buckeyes try to get their recruiting class together. They still have just 13 commitments in the 2026 recruiting class.

There were a lot of recruits who loved their visit to Ohio State. It was good for them to be around a lot of other highly-rated recruits, so it was smart for them to schedule all of these visits on the same weekend. Still, no commitments came directly after this weekend, which is concerning.

Despite the fact that everyone loved their visit with the Ohio State Buckeyes, there is one player who the Buckeyes might be losing ground with. That is five-star running back Savion Hiter. Hiter was one of the prospects who were on the visit this weekend.

Hiter enjoyed his visit to Columbus, so the Buckeyes certainly aren't out of it when it comes to landing him, but it seems like they are still falling behind. Ohio State still seems like they are behind Tennessee, which has now emerged as the clear favorite to land him.

Hiter unofficially visited Tennessee last weekend, directly before visiting Ohio State. He will visit them again the weekend of June 20th, with that being the final official visit he has scheduled. That doesn't bode well for the Buckeyes, who are still looking for a good running back to add to this class.

The Buckeyes are disappointed not to get a commitment immediately following the weekend. I'm a bit surprised they didn't get at least one. The issue is that a lot of these guys have more visits scheduled in the next few weeks. That lowers the chances of actually getting a commitment.
