The Ohio State football program should emerge from this weekend with some commitments from the 2026 recruiting class. They have several highly-ranked recruits on campus this weekend, so they are trying to put their best foot forward in order to gain some commitments.
While they still only have 13 commitments for the 2026 class, they are going to have to start to make some decisions on who they are going to take in this class. They only have so many open spots at certain positions. Some recruits might start to realize that soon.
That was the case for one running back recruit who has decided that he will no longer be considering the Ohio State Buckeyes. Carsyn Baker, a four-star recruit from the state of Georgia, has decided that he will no longer visit the Buckeyes and has canceled his visit.
Carsyn Baker cancels his visit to the Ohio State football program
Baker has narrowed his list only to SEC programs. Without Ohio State, he is now considering South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Florida State. Perhaps Bakers realized that the Buckeyes are going to land a couple of other running backs in this recruiting class, and there would be no room for him.
That's the hope, at least. The Buckeyes have a chance to land the number-one running back in the country in Savion Hiter. That would be the ideal scenario for them. Perhaps Baker canceling his visit is a clue that the Buckeyes are close to landing him in the near future.
Since Carlos Locklyn has joined the staff, he has proven that he can recruit at a high level. His recruiting class in 2025 brought in some very good backs. While those backs might not see a ton of time this year, they will be a big part of the 2026 offense.
