The Ohio State football team knew they had to get some players in the transfer portal. Once the 2024 season ends, they lose a lot of starters from the past few years. What's even worse about that is the fact that they don't have depth in some key positions.
Ohio State was able to fix that over the course of the last week or so. They got their first player from the transfer portal by landing offensive lineman Phillip Daniels from Minnesota. On Monday, they were able to land even more transfers to help in positions of need.
The Buckeyes landed a running back and a defensive lineman on Monday afternoon. Those are great players to have because those are positions that the Buckeyes need to have filled with depth. Monday evening, they were able to get the best tight end in the transfer portal.
Ohio State football team lands Max Klare from the transfer portal
Adding to their haul on Monday, the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to land Max Klare from the transfer portal. Klare was rated as the top tight end in the portal and he comes to Ohio State from Purdue, where he spent each of his first two seasons. Ohio State knows his work up close.
Klare had 51 catches for 685 yards and four touchdowns this past season for the Boilermakers. He becomes a massive upgrade for the Buckeyes and will become an impact starter immediately. This is a huge prize for a team that doesn't usually utilize the tight end much in the passing game.
After a slow start to the transfer portal, the Buckeyes have made a lot of noise. They need to keep making noise because once their run in the CFP is over, more players will hit the portal. So far, they've done some excellent work.
