The Ohio State football team is still riding high off a big win against the Tennessee Volunteers. The 42-17 shellacking was the best game that the Buckeyes have played this season. They were finally able to put together a complete game to advance in the College Football Playoff.
Winning that game put them one step closer to winning a national championship, but that wasn't the only reason why it was good for them. They were also able to get their second and third players in the transfer portal and did so at positions of need for next season as well.
After landing an offensive lineman, the Ohio State Buckeyes went out and landed both a defensive lineman and a running back, both of which are positions of need for next season. Both committed on Monday afternoon.
Ohio State football team lands a running back and a defensive lineman from the transfer portal
The running back Ohio State landed is CJ Donaldson Jr. He comes to Columbus by the way of West Virginia. He spent his first three seasons with the Mountaineers, including as the lead back in each of the last two seasons. He has run for 11 touchdowns in each of the last two years.
Ohio State also got a defensive lineman from Idaho State, Logan George. George has played his first two seasons at Idaho State and has six career sacks, including 5.5 this season. He will provide some depth up front where the Buckeyes lose a lot of guys to the NFL next year.
Donaldson Jr. has a chance to start if the Buckeyes end up losing Quinshon Judkins to the NFL. Judkins has not decided what he's going to do yet. Even if he does come back, it will be a nice two-headed monster in the backfield. Ohio State doesn't have much experience on the roster behind them.
These are some good players to get from the portal. They still need some more offensive linemen, but we'll see what happens in the next week or so.
