The Ohio State football team has several midseason All-Americans

The Ohio State football team came into the season with as much talent as anyone. They had great players on both sides of the ball. That's why they were one of the favorites to win the national championship. Even with their loss to Oregon, they still have a chance to win it all.

Players on both sides of the ball have stepped up this season. While the loss wasn't ideal, these guys still deserve recognition for their play. The Associated Press has named six Buckeyes as midseason All-Americans for their play so far this season. Three are on offense and three are on defense.

Surprisingly, the three on offense are all on the offensive line. Seth McLaughlin and Donovan Jackson were both recognized. Jackson had a bad day in Eugene but McLaughlin has been solid throughout the year. The other player honored was Josh Simmons, who is now out for the year.

The three members on defense are scattered throughout. Ty Hamilton is the lone member of the defensive line. He has been solid in the run game. The entire defensive line has had issues rushing the passer. The lack of sacks has been extremely concerning so far this season.

Two members of the secondary were honored too. Caleb Downs, the transfer from Alabama, has been great. His play at safety. The other safety, Lathan Ransom, was also honored. He hasn't been quite as good in my eyes, but he's been pretty good. The entire secondary got torched last week, though.

All of these Ohio State Buckeyes need to play at the top of their games for the rest of the season. If they don't, the team is at risk of losing yet again. This team is still very talented. All of the goals they set are still in front of them to be accomplished.
