The Ohio State football team could land the top tackle in the transfer portal
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program is in a dire spot with the transfer portal again. They once again are heading into the portal to get some help for the offensive line. Last offseason, the Buckeyes went into the portal to get Seth McLaughlin. The year before that, they got Josh Simmons.
Why do the Ohio State Buckeyes need to keep going into the portal to get offensive linemen? Because of poor recruiting and coaching by Justin Frye. His recruiting misses, and just straight-up lack of numbers, have left the Buckeyes in a crippling depth chart deficit up front.
There is some good news, though. The Buckeyes seem like they are in a good spot to land the top tackle in the transfer portal. That player is tackle Isaiah World. World is in the transfer portal after spending his first three seasons with the Nevada Wolfpack.

According to a report from Bill Kurelic of 247Sports, the Buckeyes are in a good spot to land him. For a team that is losing their two best offensive linemen to the NFL Draft. Both Simmons and McLaughlin will be heading to the NFL next season. Ohio State doesn't have many good options to replace either of them on the current roster.
World is the best option in the portal to replace Simmons at left tackle. Of course, he would just be a band-aid. He will be a senior next year so another replacement would be necessary at that spot. The offensive line pipeline doesn't look very promising, either.
We'll see what World decides to do. Ohio State doesn't have any commits from the transfer portal yet, although the portal just officially opened on Monday. They have had several players enter the portal, though. If World does choose Ohio State, he'd be the first commit.
The Buckeyes need help up front. World would certainly provide them some of that.
