Ohio State football fans have complained about Justin Frye's poor recruiting ever since he was hired on staff. He has yet to land a single five-star recruit, and the offensive line depth has been poor. It has been poor because of poor development and also because of the sheer lack of numbers entering the program.

The offensive line has been the biggest issue for the Ohio State Buckeyes in each of the last two seasons. They don't get push up front, and they clearly can't survive injuries. That is only going to become worse because the Buckeyes are losing an offensive lineman to the transfer portal.

Miles Walker, a member of the 2022 recruiting class, has decided to enter the transfer portal after just a couple of years. Walker was a former three-star recruit out of the state of Connecticut. He has hardly seen the field in Columbus and wants an opportunity elsewhere.

Losing Walker isn't a big deal in a vacuum. He was someone who was never going to play for the Buckeyes unless some serious injury issues plagued the team. The bigger issue is the attrition on the offensive line. They just don't have a lot of players up front, even after this most recent Signing Day.

Frye's lack of recruiting ability and the poor ability to develop is a major issue for this program. Quite frankly, I was surprised he was brought back after last season. While the major injuries have plagued Ohio State up front, it was telling that they had to get two transfer portal players over the last couple of years.

We wish Walker nothing but the best moving forward. I'd be shocked if he started right away somewhere else. Still, he has a better chance of seeing the field somewhere else.
