The entire 2026 NFL Draft was a commercial for the Ohio State football program. Throughout the entire three days that the draft was held, Buckeyes were being selected left and right. They had four selections in the first 11 picks. Quite frankly, it was impressive.
That doesn't mean that they didn't have proper depth in this draft. They had some guys go on day three of the draft who fit their team well. While most of the Ohio State Buckeyes who were drafted this April will fit their teams well, only one player fits their team the best.
Caleb Downs might end up being the best Buckeye long-term in this draft because he has Hall of Fame qualities already. However, the best fit of any Buckeye who was drafted is Caden Curry, who was drafted to his hometown Indianapolis Colts.
Caden Curry was the Ohio State football player drafted to the best spot
Curry was taken in the sixth round by the Colts. It was a little surprising that Curry was still available that late in the draft, considering he had 11 sacks last season. Still, Indianapolis was the perfect team to bring him in. Not only is this his hometown team, but he can actually earn playing time early.
Originally from Greenwood, Indiana, Curry has found the perfect spot to start his pro career. He joins J.T. Tuimoloau on the defensive line for the Colts. They are desperate to find a pass rusher who can consistently get to the quarterback. Quite frankly, most of the defensive line rotation is in flux.
Only DeForest Buckner is locked in to be a starter next year. Other than him, the defensive line is unknown. Laitui Latu might be a starting DE, but Curry can certainly challenge for the spot. He might be fighting Tuimoloau for that other starting position as an edge rusher.
Chris Ballard is desperate to save his job. If the Colts stink right out of the gate, he is going to want his coaching staff to play anyone who can get to the QB. That could signal some serious playing time for Curry, especially if he has a good training camp.
