In each of the last two seasons, the Ohio State football team has beaten the Texas Longhorns. In 2024, the Buckeyes beat them to advance to the national championship. In the first game of last season, Ohio State once again was victorious in the Shoe.
This year, the Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the Longhorns for the third straight season. So far, it's clear they have Texas' number. Ohio State never trailed in the previous two matchups between these two teams. Apparently, that hasn't stopped one Texas player from talking trash.
Texas linebacker Colin Simmons was on the field for both losses against the Buckeyes. He talked trash before last year's game on social media. That obviously did not end well for him. It doesn't seem that he's learned his lesson, as Simmons has decided to open his mouth again.
Colin Simmons talks trash to the Ohio State football program yet again
While talking to On3 ahead of the 2026 season, Simmons was asked about the matchup with the Buckeyes. He is not backing down, as he has decided to talk trash yet again.
"We're coming. There's business to be taken care of."
Business was decidedly not taken care of by Simmons in either of the first two matchups he had. In the 2024 matchup in the Cotton Bowl, Simmons had four tackles. He was even worse in the 2025 game, recording only two tackles. Simply put, he has been a non-factor against Ohio State.
So why would he decide to open his mouth and talk trash again? Why would that make any sense to do after his team has lost the last two games? Even though the game is in Austin this season, Simmons has been handled by multiple Ohio State tackles on the offensive line.
Colin Simmons talking trash against Ohio State again shows he will never learn
At this point, it's clear that Simmons will never learn from his mistakes. Ohio State doesn't need any more motivation to beat the Longhorns, but this is definitely giving them some bulletin board material. Austin Sierevled and Phillip Daniels will make sure to block extra hard while facing off against him.
Julian Sayin seemed to have no issues with Simmons last season. With four returning offensive linemen and Jeremiah Smith still on the outside, he likely won't have any issues this time, either. With how well Ohio State gameplans against Steve Sarkisian, it wouldn't be surprising to see Ohio State win this game easily.
The best-case scenario for Simmons is that the environment in Austin will give them a much-needed boost. Defensively, Texas has given up 42 points combined in the two previous matchups. Offensively is where they have struggled the most. Arch Manning mustered just seven points last season.
Ohio State football players don't talk trash to their opponents in the media. They don't want to give their opponents any extra motivation. Texas players clearly haven't learned that tactic, as they continue to open up their mouths.
