Texas fans are talking too much smack about the Ohio State football team

For a fan base that watched the Buckeyes beat them in their last game, Texas fans are getting a bit too chesty.

The Ohio State football program took down the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl en route to the national championship. They took down Texas 28-14, ending Texas's season. Now, Texas will play its second straight game against the Ohio State Buckeyes, as they travel to the Shoe on August 30th.

Ohio State is ranked third in the country, while Texas is ranked first. The Buckeyes are the defending national champions and just took down the Longhorns. You would think that Texas fans wouldn't be so confident that they are going to win the season opener on the road.

Yet, the exact opposite is true. Texas fans on social media have been talking a crazy amount of smack, thinking that there is no chance that they will lose to Ohio State. Perhaps they have been watching too much Paul Finebaum on ESPN and the SEC Network.

Some Texas fans are thinking the game will even be a blowout, which is a pretty wild statement.

While the Buckeyes did lose a lot of talent from the national championship-winning team, they still have a lot of really good players. Ohio State has plenty of talent to beat Texas, especially if it stays aggressive on the offensive side of the ball. Texas fans talking like this is pretty crazy.

Ryan Day seems to have turned into a more aggressive offensive play-caller after the loss to Michigan last season. That turned things around and helped the Buckeyes win the national championship. The Longhorns may have revenge on their side, but they have a lot of unproven players, too.

Arch Manning is being touted as the next great quarterback, but he has only started two games against lower-class opponents. Playing Ohio State on the road in a hostile environment is going to be a tall task. The Buckeyes are going to make sure that it's tough for Manning and the rest of the Longhorns to function offensively.

Ohio State might lose this game, but it certainly won't be a blowout in favor of Texas. They are too good a team with too much individual talent to allow that to happen. Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs will singlehandedly make sure that it's a close effort between these two great programs.

As of right now, Vegas favors the Buckeyes to win this game, mainly because of home-field advantage. According to FanDuel, they are 2.5-point favorites.
