The Ohio State football team was able to take down Texas in the Cotton Bowl. It was the final game that the Buckeyes had to win before making it to the national championship. While the Ohio State Buckeyes won the title, the Longhorns have spent all offseason stewing.
These two teams will play each other again on August 30th in the first game of the season. It will be the biggest home opener in the history of the Shoe, with two top-three teams facing each other for the first time in the first game. The Buckeyes are confident they can win the game.
Some of the media on ESPN do not agree. Paul Finebaum, head of the SEC fan base, thinks that Texas will take down the Buckeyes in the shoe. Not only that, but he had an insane prediction for how the game will actually play out in Columbus.
Paul Finebaum claims Texas will blow out the Ohio State football team
While speaking on First Take on Thursday, Finebaum claimed that the game "won't be that close" while he picked the Longhorns to win.
.@Finebaum doesn't believe No. 3 Ohio St. should be favored over No. 1 Texas to open the season 👀

"Texas' roster is better, and I think Ohio State is going to be hungover from last year." pic.twitter.com/mIbPDryls7
"I think Vegas is completely wrong. I really don't even think that this game is going to be close. I'm not trying to tank viewership for it. It's a big event, one of the biggest games we have seen, but I think Texas' roster is better, and I think Ohio State is going to be hungover from last year with a new quarterback. And by the way, two new coordinators as well."
It's not surprising that Finebaum picked the Longhorns to beat the Buckeyes in the opening game. To say that the game won't be close is another thing. If anything, the game won't be close the other way, with the Buckeyes blowing them out at home in front of their home crowd.
The Buckeyes might have a new quarterback and two new coordinators, but they still have the best player in college football on the offensive side of the ball and the best defender in the country. Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs both make this team incredibly tough to beat.
Even with all of the changes, the Buckeyes still think that they can take down the Longhorns in that opening game and shove Finebaum's words back in his face. They beat them once before, and they can beat them again at home in front of a ton of rabid fans.
