Texas AD gives cowardly excuse as to why he won't move Ohio State game time

The Ohio State football team suggested moving the season opener to Sunday, but Texas's AD gave a poor excuse as to why he won't move the kickoff time.

The Ohio State football team will take on Texas in the season opener. It will certainly kick 2025 off with a bang, as these two teams are expected to be top three teams in the preseason polls. FOX has the rights to broadcast this game, and Buckeye fans don't want it at noon.

Everyone associated with the Ohio State Buckeyes has tried everything they can to move to kickoff time to a primetime slot. The Buckeyes even suggested moving the game to Sunday so they could have a primetime game on a day that no NFL games are being played.

Texas declined that request, making things even more difficult for the Buckeyes. Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte was asked about this recently. His answer to the question made it clear that he is afraid that the Longhorns are going to lose to Ohio State.

Texas AD explains why he's afraid to play the Ohio State football team in primetime on Sunday

Del Conte claims that he doesn't want to have a short week the following week by playing a primetime game on Sunday, and that's the main reason why he denied the request to move the game.

For anyone wondering what that game would be the following week, that he's afraid of having a short week for, Texas plays San Jose State. Everyone knows that they are a program that requires a ton of preparation in order to play! You can't possibly have a short week against them!

This just screams fear. If Texas were really a contender for the national championship, it would not be worried about something like this. They would think that they can take on Ohio State anytime, anywhere. Instead, they are insisting on this game being at noon.

Ohio State whopped on the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl on the way to winning the national championship last season. The result will likely be the same this Fall. No matter what time of day this game kicks off, Ohio State football fans will be ready to cheer on their team. That's a huge advantage no matter what.
