The wait is over for Terry McLaurin as the star wide receiver for the Washington Commanders finally got the contract extension he was holding out for. After holding out of training camp in the early stages, dealing with an ankle injury, and then requesting a trade, McLaurin was given a thre-year contract extension worth up to $96 million.
This was exactly the type of contract the former Ohio State Buckeye was hoping for, and now we know the exact details of what it entails in the contract. As reported by The Athletic's Dianna Russini, McLaurin's contract has a base salary of $87 million with $44 million guaranteed and a $30 million signing bonus. The star wide receiver also has the ability to earn more in incentives.
While the incentives and their value are unknown at this time, it is clear that McLaurin got the payday he wanted and so very deserved.

The NFL regular season is just a week away with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys kicking things off on Thursday Night Football, McLaurin won't have a lot of practice time with the team adn didn't see the field at all during the preseason.
The good news is that the former Buckeye still reported to camp, even during his holdout when he was dealing with the ankle injury. Even in the time when he was requesting the trade, he was around the team and coaches, so while he may not have been physically on the field, he was still able to potentially run through things on the sideline.
McLaurin's ankle injury seems to have cleared up, and he should be good to go in Week 1 as the Commanders take on the NFC East rival, the New York Giants, on Sunday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. EST. McLaurin could be due for another big season with the help of young quarterback Jayden Daniels at the helm.
