Over the years, it has proven to pay to be an Ohio State football player. The NFL clearly loves what the Buckeyes do to help their players be prepared for the next level. Multiple former Ohio State Buckeyes have signed record contracts in free agency and contract extensions over the last decade or so.
Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin wasn't looking to sign a record-setting extension with the franchise, but he wanted to be paid what he believes he is worth. He has been holding in during training camp while he has been negotiating with the franchise for a better contract.
McLaurin is in a contract year, meaning he was going to become a free agent at the end of the season. That will now change, as McLaurin has finally received the deal from the team that he deserves. He will be staying in Washington for the next three years on a sweet new deal.
Former Ohio State receiver Terry McLaurin signs $96 million contract extension
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, McLaurin has signed a three-year deal worth $96 million to remain with the Commanders.

McLaurin has wanted something in the realm of $30 million per year, and he now gets $32 million per year. Quite frankly, he has been their best offensive player since he was drafted in the third round back in the 2019 NFL Draft. Even with all of the bad quarterbacks he's played with, he's made things work.
While he will turn 30 early in the season, McLaurin doesn't show any signs of slowing down. He is still going to be a very good player, especially now that he actually has a good quarterback throwing him the ball in Jayden Daniels. There's no reason he can't still have 1,000+ yards in each of the next three years.
Ohio State receivers are taking over the NFL, and that will continue as long as Brian Hartline is on staff. He is the best recruiter in the country, and he develops receivers better than anyone else. McLaurin can testify to that firsthand after being a three-star recruit out of Indianapolis.
The Commanders will now be able to head into this season without any distractions, and the Buckeyes get another recruiting tool to use when it comes to pitching receivers. Everyone is going to come out a winner in his situation, especially McLaurin. He deserves every dollar of that deal.
