Washington Commanders star wide receiver and former Ohio State Buckeye Terry McLaurin did not report to training camp on Tuesday. McLaurin is currently in a dispute with the Commanders over a new contract, and until a deal gets done, it seems like he isn't going to attend any sort of practice or workout with the team.
Last week, McLaurin expressed frustration over the contract negotiations with the Commanders as he claimed he hadn't heard from the team in over a month. Because of that, McLaurin has chosen not to report to training camp.

The former Buckeye has been trying to get a new contract since before offseason workouts began, but little progress has been made. Then, not to have heard from the team in over a month, especially before training camp is set to begin, just seems absolutely ridiculous.
McLaurin has always been a top receiver, no matter who was throwing the ball to him. Only once in his six-year NFL career has McLaurin not had over 1,000 receiving yards, and it was back in his rookie season, and he still reeled in 919 yards. Since then, he has consistently been a top receiver for the Commanders and even reeled in many touchdowns.
This past season was clearly the best for McLaurin, and a lot of that was due to having a top quarterback throwing to him. McLaurin finished the season with 1,096 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 13.4 yards per catch. The other amazing part of McLaurin's game is that he takes care of the football. In his entire career, he has only fumbled the ball once.
With a nickname like "Scary Terry," McLaurin has certainly coined himself as a top receiver in the league and believes he should be paid as such.
Unfortunately, the NFL vet will lose out on money for not reporting to training camp, being fined $50,000 for each day he misses. The Commanders' general manager, Adam Peters, seems to think things are going well, however.
"We've had some good conversations recently, and we'll continue to," Peters said. "We'll do everything we can to get a deal done."
McLaurin has one year left on his last deal, which was a three-year $68 million deal that he signed in 2022. It is known exactly how much McLaurin is looking for in his new contract, but all he wants to feel is valued by the team for his work. Many other wide receivers in this league had received huge deals, including three of them over this past offseason.
Hopefully, the former Buckeye can get a new deal that shows his value to the Commanders and join the team so that Ohio State fans can see their beloved former receiver back on the field this fall.
