Tennessee fans are delusional if they think they can flip this 5-star Ohio State recruit

Early on in the 2027 recruiting cycle, the Buckeyes were able to land DJ Jacobs. The five-star defensive end recruit is someone they were able to land last year, giving them a cornerstone player in the class. Despite some attempts from Miami, Jacobs has stayed locked in with Ohio State.

Jacobs is the top-rated recruit in Ohio State's 2027 class, but he wasn't their most wanted. That was David Gabriel Georges, who is a five-star running back. Gabriel Georges chose Tennessee. Now, Tennessee fans are delusional enough to think they can flip Jacobs because of an Instagram post.

Tennessee fans freak out over Ohio State recruit DJ Jacobs' social media post

Jacobs posted a photo of himself praising Adidas. Several Tennessee accounts liked the post, and that has given Volunteers fans license to think that means that he is considering flipping.

Jacobs has seemed extremely locked in with the Buckeyes for quite a while now. Miami continues to try to flip him, so they are the school that Ohio State should have to worry about. It doesn't make any sense for the Volunteers to try to jump in this late and land him.

Just because Tennessee was able to overpay for Gabriel Georges doesn't mean that they will somehow magically flip Jacobs into being a recruit for them. While he did take an unofficial visit to Knoxville back in November, that didn't make enough of an impression on him.

Quite frankly, this Gabriel Georges commitment has Tennessee fans getting a little too chesty. They seem to have forgotten that the Ohio State Buckeyes crushed the Vols just two years ago in the College Football Playoff. That result on the field seems to have slipped their minds.

Ohio State football fans are not wavering that DJ Jacobs will stay locked in

Jacobs has helped Ohio State try to recruit some other players, including Marcus Fakatou and Karlos May. Both of those players will be joining him on the defensive line in 2027. Volunteers fans think, for some reason, that the Buckeyes are just going to let him go or something.

Tennessee has the 24th-best recruiting class in the country at the moment. That's a far cry from where Ohio State sits, as they are sixth. It's pretty clear which is the dominant program when it comes to recruiting, and we already saw which one is better on the field, and it was clearly Ohio State, as well.

I don't think this is something that Ohio State football fans need to worry about right now. If anything, the Hurricanes are a bigger threat to flip him. Even they don't have much more to offer than a large NIL payment. They've tried to flip Jeremiah Smith for years, to no avail.

Speaking of Smith, he has an NIL deal signed with Adidas, as well. Jacobs might end up doing that, too. That could be what this is signaling. It certainly doesn't mean that he is going to flip to the Volunteers all of a sudden.
