The Ohio State football program usually gets the best players from the state of Ohio. Usually, the best recruits in Ohio stay in Ohio. Ryan Day has made that a priority. While he recruits nationally more than previous Ohio State head coaches, he still wants to keep the best from his own backyard.

Right now, the Ohio State Buckeyes have the third-best recruiting class for 2027. It is still very early in the cycle, and Signing Day isn't for another nine months. Still, it's good to see the Buckeyes doing a good job on the recruiting trail so far. A strong start is always good.

Several recruits have started narrowing down their school list in recent days, keeping the Buckeyes in consideration. Another solid recruit has kept Ohio State on his final list, and it's one who resides in the city of Columbus and plays with Day's son.

Four-star tight end recruit keeps Ohio State on his final list

Tight end Jordan Karhoff is a four-star recruit who attends St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus. That is where Day's son, RJ, goes, and he is the quarterback. He knows Karhoff better than anyone, and Karhoff has kept the Buckeyes on his final schools list.

Karhoff narrowed his list to five schools. Other than Ohio State, he is also still considering Texas A&M, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Georgia. He has not made a visit to Ohio State yet, but setting one up wouldn't be very hard to do. He would even be able to stay in his own home if he wanted to.

Karhoff is one of many recruits the Buckeyes are looking to add to the 2027 class. Recruiting visits and commitments should really start to heat up in the next few months. Once the Spring Game rolls around, that is when the Buckeyes usually start to add to the recruiting class.
