The Ohio State football program is working to set up recruiting visits for spring practices and the Spring Game. The Buckeyes already have the third-best recruiting class for 2027. Yet, several other high-level prospects are looking to get on campus for visits to possibly join that class.

Ryan Day has reiterated that the majority of the roster will be built through traditional high school recruiting instead of through the portal. Other schools have pivoted into using the Transfer Portal to bring in older players to help them succeed at a higher level.

As recruits start to set up visits for the spring, several high-level recruits have put the Ohio State Buckeyes as one of the finalists for their services. That includes a couple of running backs and an offensive lineman, as well.

High-level recruits clamoring for Ohio State visits

Four-star running back Nigel Newkirk has the Buckeyes as one of his final six schools. Other than Ohio State, he is still considering TTUN, USC, LSU, Alabama, and Miami. Newkirk is scheduled to visit Columbus on June 19, which is the same date as several other high-profile recruits.

Jayden Miles, another running back, also has Ohio State in his final set of schools. Miles is another four-star running back who has the Buckeyes on his list. He is also considering Florida State, Texas Tech, Kentucky, LSU, and Auburn. He is a Baton Rouge native.

Tackle Brian Swanson is a four-star recruit. He has narrowed his list down to eight schools, with the Buckeyes being one of them. He is also considering Texas, LSU, SMU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Arizona State. Swanson is from Dallas.

Ohio State only has a visit set up with one of these prospects right now. Still, they might try to get the other two recruits on campus sometime before Signing Day.
