The Ohio State football program has been trying to make sure that they are in a good position to repeat as national champions. They lost a ton of players from their 2024 national championship team, so it won't be easy for them to come back and win it again.

Defensively, it will be extremely tough to replace the talent that they lost. They will replace eight starters on that side of the ball. It's something that most elite programs have to deal with after winning a title. It's something Ohio State is learning now that they are on top of the college football world.

The Buckeyes hired two new coordinators in the offseason to replace Chip Kelly and Jim Knowles. Brain Hartline and Matt Patricia took over those positions, respectively. Patricia seems to have brought an old friend of his to Columbus to help him coach during the Spring.

Super Bowl champion Malcolm Butler is helping coach the Ohio State football team

Former Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler has been seen coaching the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Super Bowl champ has reunited with his former coach to help the Buckeyes on the defensive side of the ball. Ohio State seems to enjoy having him around.

The Buckeyes already have one of the best secondaries in the country despite losing two starters from that group. Keeping Davison Igbinosun and Caleb Downs still makes this group extremely good. That's something that Butler is hoping that he can help with.

Butler can certainly help Igbinosun commit fewer penalties, which was a massive issue for him last year. In fact, no one got called for more defensive penalties in the secondary than he did. Ryan Day and the rest of the coaching staff are hoping that he can help the corners be even better in a new defensive scheme.

How long Butler helps the Buckeyes remains to be seen. He doesn't have an official role with the team. Perhaps that changes if things go well for the rest of the Spring.
