SEC school trying to flip Jeremiah Smith's brother from Ohio State out of nowhere

All of a sudden, an SEC underdog has appeared out of the blue, trying to flip the younger brother of elite Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

It's fairly easy to jump to the conclusion that the Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day would have an easy time recruiting current Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith's brother to join them in Columbus.

And that was seemingly exactly how it unfolded when three-star safety Angelo Smith committed to the Buckeyes in September of 2025.

However, all of a sudden, another offer is on the table, and it's from an SEC program that is undergoing an entire rebuild of its program.

Kentucky Wildcats offer Ohio State commit Angelo Smith

Yes, of all of the teams in the SEC, it was the Kentucky Wildcats who extended an offer to the younger Smith earlier this week, and when he shared the news on X, Jeremiah even made sure to repost it, adding the "prayers" emoji in his tweet.

Just like that, Angelo's commitment to the Buckeyes seemed to be a little less certain than it had felt just a few days earlier.

Jeremiah, of course, was part of the National Championship-winning Ohio State team in 2024, earning 1,315 receiving yards, 15 receiving touchdowns, 47 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown as a true freshman.

Then, he went on to earn 1,243 receiving yards for 12 touchdowns and 21 rushing yards for one touchdown as a sophomore last season.

As the elder Smith continued to excel for the Buckeyes, the younger committed to Day and Ohio State.

Angelo has received offers from across the country, including ones from the Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and more. However, his decision to play for the Buckeyes seemed obvious. Now, that commitment seems a little more murky than it did before.
