The Ohio State football program is preparing for the annual Spring Game. Ryan Day has made it clear that it will be very close to an actual game this year, with tackling happening throughout the contest. It will be the first chance for fans to get a look at this year's team.

It will also be a chance for several Buckeyes to make a case for a starting job. This is a great opportunity to show the coaching staff what they can do in front of 70,000+ fans in the Shoe. The offensive line is one position group in particular to watch on that front.

Ian Moore has been turning some heads with his play so far this spring. His strength, size, and commitment to getting better in the weight room have him pushing for a starting spot. Day addressed that possibility as Moore gets ready for a very important Spring Game.

While speaking to the media, Day addressed the chances Moore has of landing a starting spot with both Austin Siereveld and Phillip Daniels out.

"Ian and Carter (Lowe) both have an opportunity here with Phil and Austin down. You never want to see anybody get hurt, but the silver lining in that is these guys have to step up and play against the ones every day in practice. So that's giving us some really good information on what we can expect next year, but it's also challenging them to step up...Ian has done some really good things, so that's been great...he's going to have an opportunity to play himself into a starter role here."

Day made it clear that he still has some final boxes to check for him to truly make that final leap.

"Now, whether he does and takes that final step or two, we'll have to see. But he's certainly going to be in the conversation."

A great performance in the Spring Game would give him a chance to take that final step. He could end up pushing one of those tackles out. If that happens, Daniels could be the odd man out of the starting lineup. Siereveld would likely be kicked inside to guard, a position he's played before.

That will be one of the big things to keep an eye on when the Spring Game gets underway at noon on Saturday.
