Grambling State head coach Mickey Joseph basically admitted to knowing that his team is going to lose to Ohio State this week, but he made quite the mistake before that. Joseph made a joke about how Ohio State has a great band and Grambling State has a great band, so they will be competing as a band.
If there is one thing you don't do in Columbus, it is talk about the Ohio State band in any sort of negative way. The Buckeyes took this as a shot at their band, and that there will be a competition between the two, and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day made sure to remind his fans and the Buckeyes marching band who the best band in the country is.
"Let's make sure everyone understands one thing," Day said at Saturday's Skull Session. "The Best Damn Band in the Land resides here in Columbus, Ohio!"

Now, Grambling State does have a very good marching band; they are actually "world famous," as they call themselves, "the best band in the land." This band will be on display during the halftime show alongside the Ohio State band during today's matchup, but Day made sure that everyone knows who the better band is.
The Buckeyes take serious pride in their marching band, literally calling themselves "The Best Damn Band in the Land."
For the head football coach of the No. 1-ranked team in the country to take time to remind everyone who has the real best band in the land is very special for all those students who play in the band and work hard to cheer on their National Champion football team.
No one can come for the Ohio State band and not expect something to happen, and now Mickey Joseph will see what happens when he does just that.
