The Ohio State football program is deep into Spring practice. They are preparing to play in the Spring Game in a couple of weeks, which will give fans a chance to see the 2025 Buckeyes for the first time. Some other programs are hoping to possibly do some joint practices.
Colorado and Syracuse have talked about doing a joint practice instead of a Spring Game. That would be very interesting to watch for the fans of both teams. Despite the risk of injury, it seems like both programs would be okay with doing something like this.
Ryan Day was asked about possibly doing something like this in the future with the Ohio State Buckeyes and some other program. While Day thinks that something like this should be allowed, he would not allow his program to participate in such activities.
Ryan Day wouldn't let the Ohio State football team participate in a joint Spring practice
Day thinks that it's a good idea for the fans but that the risk of injury is too high to allow the Buckeyes to participate in something like that.
Ryan Day said he believes teams should be allowed to hold joint spring practices if they want to. Doesn’t sound like Day is eager for Ohio State to participate in joint practices, though, because of injury concerns.

Injury concerns are a big reason why more programs wouldn't want to do this. No one wants to have their guys go down with a season-ending injury six months before the season starts. That happens now with normal Spring Games, so bringing in another team could increase those chances.
If the Buckeyes were to ever do this, they would likely practice with a lesser program and perhaps pay for them to come to campus. It would have to be a local MAC school such as Ohio or Kent State, some team that can still drive to campus and still give the Buckeyes some decent competition.
As an Ohio State football fan, it would be cool to see them do something like this. It doesn't sound like Day is enthused about the idea.
