The Ohio State football program made sure that it was ready for everything against Michigan this season. After suffering the most embarrassing loss in the Ryan Day era to TTUN last season, they dominated the Wolverines 27-9. It was a game that they controlled for most of the game.
In that game, the Ohio State Buckeyes had some communication issues. Specifically, that happened in the second half when things started getting out of hand. It was why Julian Sayin had to keep coming to the sidelines in order to get the play-call in.
It came out that the comms on the Ohio State sideline went down. It clearly didn't affect them that long, so they were able to keep physically dominating TTUN. Fans thought that Michigan was cheating, and Ryan Day addressed that during his weekly press conference.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day thought TTUn was going to cheat in The Game
Day was asked about the communications going down, and Day mentioned that they were ready for some funny business.
“We lost communication there in the second half, but the good news was that earlier that week, I thought there may be an inkling that they may happen, so we had a plan for it,” Day said. “We had a wristband plan, and then we would bring Julian over, and that was just getting us through it until we got the headsets back up and running, which took a little while to get done. But just by chance, we had a plan for it, and so we were ready to go when it happened.”
During this answer, Day also winked. He was being a bit cheeky, but he wasn't being untrue. With TTUN having a history of cheating, that's something that they had to be prepared for. It was smart for him to prepare his team for this possibility, and it paid off.
There are some videos circulating that look fishy on Ohio State's sideline with a guy dressed in Michigan gear near the comms, but nothing conclusive. Regardless of how it happened, Day was smart enough to prepare his team for TTUN's shenanigans.
It resulted in a massive win that will have his team feeling very confident heading into the Big Ten Championship. The Buckeyes know that Day will have the team prepared for whatever the Hoosiers throw at them after this incident happened on Saturday.
