The Ohio State football team has been without Carnell Tate for the last three games. He has an undisclosed lower-body injury that has kept him out of games against Purdue, UCLA, and Rutgers. The Buckeyes were able to win all of those games with ease.
Tate has been one of the best players for the Ohio State Buckeyes this season, showing a strong ability to be a deep threat alongside Jeremiah Smith. Smith did not play against Rutgers, but said that he is good to go against Michigan. Fans are still wondering what Tate's status is for The Game.
Ryan Day has been very coy in regards to Tate's availability to play against TTUN. He clearly doesn't want Michigan to know one way or the other. During his press conference on Tuesday, Day once again declined to provide any solid answer about his playing status.
Carnell Tate's status for Ohio State vs. Michigan is still up in the air
Day parroted the same line that he has given every time he has been asked about Tate or Smith in the last couple of weeks.
"They are doing everything they can to play in the game. We'll see how today goes, but they're working really, really hard to get back on the field."
Day also refused to give an update on Lorenzo Styles, who appeared to hurt his shoulder against the Scarlet Knights. It looks like Day is not going to give any injury information until Saturday afternoon, which is expected with this rivalry game coming up. Day will not let TTUN get any information.
Smith is going to play. I would be surprised if Tate doesn't play in the game. If he doesn't, his time with the Buckeyes is likely over, as it will be treated as a JSN situation. Both receivers are two of the best receivers in the country, so it's imperative that the Buckeyes have them.
Day won't have to release any information on their status until just before kickoff.
