Ryan Day gives a surprisingly blunt response about Ohio State's defense

The Ohio State head coach was asked about his team's defense, and he gave a very blunt response about the unit.

Ryan Day has been through a lot since he became the coach of the Ohio State football program. He has gone through some harassment for his failure to beat Michigan. Before that, it was harassment over a failure to win a big game. Now, he's dealing with the joy of being the defending national champion.

After all of these incidents that he has gone through as a college head coach, he has learned how to handle these situations better. He now fully understands what is expected of him as the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Anything less than perfection will be heavily scrutinized.

So far this season, the Buckeyes look like the best team in the country. They have already taken down Texas and Grambling State, and their defense has only allowed a total of seven points so far. That doesn't mean that Day is happy with what he has seen.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is not happy with anything

While speaking on his weekly radio show, Day was asked if he was happy about the defensive performance from his team in the first couple of weeks. Day's response shows just how much the stress of this job has gotten to him.

"Never happy with anything, but there's definitely some positives and some things we need to work on."

Day did say this with a laugh, so he certainly is pleased with the fact that his team has hardly allowed any points over the first two weeks. It's hard enough to get wins, but to only allow seven points through the first couple of weeks is extremely impressive, no matter who the opponents are.

The Buckeyes are hoping to have a similar defensive performance this weekend against Ohio. The Bobcats come to the Shoe for the first time in 15 years, so the Buckeyes want to make sure that they dominate an in-state team that is good, but certainly not close to their level.

Day knows that once he starts to get complacent, that's when other teams can find a weakness and start to pounce. Some of the more enthusiastic members of the Ohio State fan base have let him know that over the last few years, as well. He knows that he needs to keep an edge at all times.

Expect the defense to play very well again this week against a very frisky Ohio quarterback.
