Ryan Day has taken a lot of heat since Saturday afternoon. That's what happens when you lose to your rival four straight times. The Ohio State football team lost 13-10 to Michigan in a game that they were 19.5-point favorites in. It's the most inexcusable loss since Day has been the coach.

Day spoke to the media on Wednesday to talk about the recruiting class that was being signed. It was his first press conference since his post-game comments following The Game. After he was done fielding questions about the 2025 recruiting class, he got several about The Game.

One of the questions he got towards the end of the press conference was interesting. He was asked about a sales pitch he would give to detractors that are out there. He was given a chance to talk himself up. Instead, Day gave a bewildering response.

Ryan Day can't seem to tell why he deserves to be the head coach of the Ohio State football program

The question was clearly posed to give him a chance to speak about why he thinks he deserves to be the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He gave the following response.

"I don't think I need to have a sales pitch. I feel their frustration. There's no way to defend losing four years in a row. Sometimes, when you're really close and feel frustrated, you've got to push through. And that's what we're gonna do."

That's a very strange answer. You can talk up your accomplishments and talk about how much your players love you. Day could even have talked about how hard the guys play for him. Instead, he gave a non-answer and pretty much just opted out of the question.

It's clear that the loss has deeply affected Day. It's his job to make sure that he gets the Buckeyes ready for the CFP and that this loss doesn't affect their ability to win in the CFP. Based on that answer, Ohio State football fans might need to be concerned.
