Over the last few months, no recruit has gotten more attention from the Ohio State football program than David Gabriel Georges. The 5-star running back recruit has narrowed his school list down to three. Other than the Buckeyes, he is choosing between Tennessee and Ole Miss.
It's pretty clear that Ole Miss is out of the picture. It will be a showdown between the Buckeyes and the Volunteers for his services. Over the past few years, no recruit has had more time on them than Gabriel Georges from an Ohio State perspective. They clearly want him very badly.
While the Ohio State Buckeyes aren't offering him as much NIL money as Tennessee is, they still feel confident they can land him. It sounds like Gabriel Georges has already made up his mind on which school he will be committing to, according to some insiders.
Ohio State recruiting target David Gabriel Georges has made school decision, according to insiders
According to Rivals, David Gabriel Georges has already made his collegiate choice. They cite what his uncle has told Steve Wiltfong. Of course, it's still unclear what that decision actually is. Gabriel Georges has kept that close to the vest and has not leaked it to the public.

Gabriel Georges is not supposed to make his announcement until later this month. It's pretty clear that he is going to be really good, no matter where he goes. It would certainly hurt the Buckeyes if they weren't able to land him after all of the time they have spent on his recruitment.
Carlos Locklyn has done a good job of staying in contact with him throughout this entire recruitment process. He has proven since taking over the job of running backs coach that he can develop backs, as he helped both TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins rush for over 1,000 yards in 2024.
David Gabriel Georges would be Ohio State's highest-rated RB recruit in five years
If the Buckeyes were to get a commitment from Gabriel Georges, he would become Ohio State's highest-rated running back commit since TreVeyon Henderson committed back in 2021. He is the last five-star recruit to pledge his commitment to Ohio State out of high school.
Ohio State's offense would certainly become more potent if he were to choose to play in Columbus. He would end up becoming either the starter or the second-string guy behind Bo Jackson. Either way, the offense would become even better than it already should be next year.
The Buckeyes are clearly better than Tennessee on the field. They are hoping that success will give them the edge in this recruiting battle. Of course, that might not actually be enough. Ohio State is not offering as many funds as the Volunteers are. That is Tennessee's trump card.
Based on this new information, there is a chance that Ohio State might learn its fate with this elite recruit sooner than expected. Once they know how it will go with him, they can use their resources elsewhere.
