The Ohio State football team finally knows who its opponent will be in the College Football Playoff. They will be taking on the Miami Hurricanes after Miami took down Texas A&M 10-3. Now, they get to travel to Texas to take on the Buckeyes in a place Ohio State knows well.

Last year, the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to take down Texas in the Cotton Bowl en route to winning the national championship. In that game, the Buckeyes had one of the greatest plays in program history when Jack Sawyer had a sack, forced fumble, and recovery for a touchdown to seal it.

Another all-time great Ohio State moment happened back during the BCS National Championship Game in the 2002 season. The game took place in 2003, and the Buckeyes were able to take down the Hurricanes to win perhaps the most unlikely national championship in modern history.

Remembering the Ohio State football team beating Miami for a national title

That game had several memorable moments. Maurice Clarett wrestling the ball away from Sean Taylor after an interception is an all-time moment. Craig Krenzel rushed for two touchdowns. Of course, this game is most remembered for the call at the end of the first overtime.

That was when Miami was called for pass interference on fourth down as Chris Gamble tried to make a catch in the end zone. While Miami thought they had won the game, the official had an issue throwing the flag, as it got stuck in his belt. Still, it was the right call.

Miami fans will forever believe it was a bad call that cost them a second straight national championship. Ohio State got its first national championship since 1968 and started off the current era of dominance. The Hurricanes will be trying to get revenge for that one.

Ohio State is heavily favored to win this game, so fans of the Hurricanes might be disappointed almost 25 years later.
