The Ohio State football team has been a favorite of Lee Corso on College GameDay for quite a long time. He has loved putting on the Brutus mascot head for almost three decades. He has been on College GameDay and TV at ESPN for about four decades at this point.

Now, Corso is finally hanging it up. He is retiring after the first College GameDay of the year in 2025. While a site hasn't been announced yet, it will likely be at Ohio State for their opening game against Texas. That is by far the best game in college football during the opening weekend.

Corso started out his mascot head tradition by putting on the Brutus head back in 1996. That was the first time that he decided to do something like this. It was a game between the Buckeyes against Penn State, and he picked Ohio State to come out victorious. He was right, by the way.

Celebrating Lee Corso's first headgear pick as he announces retirement

That day in October started a tradition that would span almost three full decades. He then started to don the mascot head of the team that he thought was going to win in the game between whatever teams were playing at the site they were at.

Since that first pick, no one has been picked more than Ohio State when it comes to headgear picks. He has taken the Ohio State Buckeyes 45 times in his career. That's by far the most of any school. He very well might don Brutus again in August when he does his final show.

That would bring everything full circle for his career. If Ohio State can win that game against Texas as he picks Brutus, it would be the perfect end to what has been a historic career for him.
