The Ohio State football team has occupied the top spot in the rankings since Week 2. After beating Texas in the season opener, they have been ranked number one every week since. Nothing they have done since then has given any reason why they shouldn't still be ranked at the top.

While the AP and Coaches Poll still have the Ohio State Buckeyes at number one, the College Football Playoff rankings come out for the first time on Tuesday. The Buckeyes would love nothing more than to be ranked first when those polls come out, too.

With the first ranking about to be released, it's time for us to predict where each team will be ranked before the committee puts it out there for the public to see.

The Ohio State football team should still be first in CFP rankings

The Buckeyes should still be in the top spot, meaning they get a bye. Indiana will be second, as the two best teams in the country are in the Big Ten. Texas A&M will be third, while Alabama will be fourth. If the season ended today, those four would get the byes.

Oregon should be fifth. They have one loss, and it was by one score against one of the last four undefeated teams left. Georgia will be sixth after a horrendous performance against a bad Florida team on Saturday. BYU will be seventh, with Ole Miss at eight.

Ninth should be Texas Tech, as they have looked solid all year long. Oklahoma will be 10th, with Virginia and Notre Dame rounding out the top 12. Texas will likely be just outside the playoff conversation right now, but that could change later this season.

As long as the Buckeyes are one of the top 12 teams at the end of the year, that's all that matters. It seems highly unlikely they will fall out of the top four at any point before the CFP starts.
