Since gambling became legal in the state of Ohio just last year, one of my favorite things to do has been betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Any Ohio State Buckeyes. I like betting player props for both the football and basketball teams and build a parlay with it. It's fun!

New NCAA president Charlie Baker is putting an end to my fun as well as everyone else's fun in the state of Ohio. He sent a letter to the Ohio Gaming Commission at the start of the month asking to ban player prop bets on college players in the state. He's getting his wish.

Starting March 1, you will no longer be able to bet on specific prop bets related to college players. That means no more over/under point totals for Bruce Thornton or over/under rushing yards for TreVeyon Henderson. That is all going away very shortly.

Baker's reasoning for asking for this is because he thinks college athletes are being harassed over sports bets. I would like to see what evidence he has on that, but I don't think athletes are getting harassed in this state any more than they were two years ago before gambling became legal.

Student-athletes have been getting harassed on social media for the better part of a decade. Yet, you don't hear Baker trying to address that. I think this is a dumb decision by the Ohio Gaming Commission to do this too, but I guess it doesn't really matter that much.

Betting in the state of Ohio has just become a little less fun. I always gamble responsibly and if you do decide to gamble, you should as well.
