The Ohio State football program already has the best recruiting class in the country. For most of this year, they have. They increased their lead after landing Jarquez Carter on Thursday evening. Carter's inclusion into the class gives them 24 commitments for the class.

Normally, that would be close to a full class. Ohio State usually likes to keep the class around 25 prospects. That usually keeps them in line with having 85 scholarship players. Of course, classes can vary by size depending on the number of players that leave or stay within a given year.

This year, that number could end up ballooning even further. The Buckeyes have a ton of seniors who are leaving after this season. A lot of those guys came back so they could win a national championship. Those departing seniors aren't the only reason why the Buckeyes could have a bigger class than normal.

College football programs are hoping that they can expand rosters very soon. In fact, there is a rule in the works that could have rosters expand all the way to 105. That's according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The Big Ten is pushing for rosters to be expanded, and we know how much power they have.

While nothing is close to being finalized, it sounds like that will happen sometime in the near future. Roster expansion is inevitable, given how many games these power conference teams will have to play in order to play for a national championship. Teams will need more depth.

That's part of the reason why the Ohio State football program could end up bringing in upwards of 30 recruits. If they are allowed to have expanded rosters soon, why wouldn't they try to make that happen? Depth is going to be key for these Big Ten and SEC schools that have eyes for a national title.

It remains to be seen just how many recruits the Buckeyes bring in this class. We know they have room for at least two more guys. We'll see how successful they are at landing them.
