The Ohio State football team got another big win on Saturday, beating Iowa 35-7. Ohio State showed some things in this game that validated all of the preseason hype that this team garnered. Remember, they were the preseason number two team in the polls.

After a wild weekend, the Buckeyes showed that they very well could be the best team in the country. They showed that the offense is elite by tearing up a good Iowa defense. Two big winners emerged from this game and neither one of them are actually guys who play on the team.

Two big Ohio State football winners from the game vs. Iowa

Jim Knowles was one of the big winners. While Iowa's offense isn't the best offense Ohio State will face this year, the stats don't lie. Knowles' defense has been elite all year long. He has this unit playing better than any other defense in the country and the stats back it up.

Ohio State is first in points allowed, first in total yards allowed, fourth in pass yards per game allowed, and third in rush yards per game allowed. That's even after going up against one of the best running backs in the country in Kaleb Johnson. They held Johnson to just 86 yards and 28 of those came on a touchdown run against the backups.

The other big winner from this game is Chip Kelly. The offense is absolutely humming right now. Going against one of the best defenses in the country, Kelly's offense shredded them in every way possible. What they were able to do on the ground was particularly impressive.

Coming into this game, Iowa was only giving up just under 63 yards per game. All Ohio State did was run for 203 yards on them. It's clear that this offense can do pretty much whatever it wants, no matter who they are facing. That bodes well for them as they head into their game next week against Oregon.
