Three reasons why the Ohio State football team will win the national title

2. The Ohio State football team made an upgrade at the quarterback position
I am in the minority when it comes to assessing the quarterback play for the Buckeyes a year ago. I don't think Kyle McCord was horrible. He just wasn't elite. His play was above average because his floor was high. His ceiling just wasn't as high as it needed to be in the biggest games.
Part of the reason his ceiling wasn't as high is because McCord isn't very mobile. He can't make plays with his legs unless the situation is absolutely dire. He wasn't used as a read-option guy at all. That limited just how effectively he could run the offense.
Out goes McCord and in comes Will Howard. Howard doesn't have the arm strength that McCord does, but he is immensely more mobile. He is a true dual-threat weapon behind center. While he's not elite either, he should be better than McCord at raising the ceiling of the offense.
That's all this team needs to do with how good the skill guys are around Howard. He has two dynamic backs in TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. Emeka Egbuka is a first-round talent. Carnell Tate is a former five-star recruit who will be a great number-two option. Jeremiah Smith might be the most hyped receiver in Ohio State football history.
As long as the offensive line can protect Howard, he should put up the best numbers of his career. Those numbers should be better than what McCord was able to do. With how good the defense is, that's all this team needs to win a national championship.
The final reason why the Buckeyes are going to win it all this year is because of the changes made in the coaching staff.
