There is no bigger individual award in college football than the Heisman Trophy. It is given to the best overall player in the sport and is won by legends. The last Ohio State football player to win the Heisman was Troy Smith back in 2006. At the time, he won by the highest voting margin ever.

Other legends such as Eddie George, Hopalong Cassidy, and Archie Griffin have won the coveted award. Chase Young and C.J. Stroud have come close in recent years, but no one has been able to snag it. The Buckeyes are hoping that changes this year with all of the great players they have.

TreVeyon Henderson and Emeka Egbuka have been great when they have been healthy and on the field for Ohio State. They are two of the best players at their positions in the country. Yet, neither of them have the highest odds among Ohio State football players to win the award.

Will Howard has the highest odds among Ohio State football players to win the Heisman

Instead, it's quarterback Will Howard who has the best odds to win the Heisman Trophy. This is despite the fact that Ryan Day hasn't even named a starter at the quarterback position yet. According to FanDuel, he has the fourth-best odds in the country to win it at +1400.

Howard comes in as the presumptive starter after transferring in from Kansas State. He has put up some good numbers with the Wildcats, but nothing that would resemble Heisman numbers. It's clear that the team around Howard is the big reason for his high odds.

Howard has never played in a more talented offense than he will with the Buckeyes. Chip Kelly is also running the offense now and we know how prolific his offenses have been in the past. Ryan Day also has had a Heisman Finalist quarterback every year except for last season. His track record developing guys at that position is solid.

Of course, Howard is more interested in beating Michigan and winning a national title than winning the Heisman. That would just be an added bonus.
