When you have one of the best rosters in all of college football, it's expected that you earn a lot of preseason awards. That has certainly been true for the Ohio State football team. The Buckeyes have already racked up some preseason recognition that is well deserved.

Some Buckeyes have already been selected to some preseason All-American teams. Plenty of award watchlists have named Buckeyes to their list of players to watch too. The Maxwell Award is one of those award watchlists. That award is given to the best overall player in college football.

Heading into the 2024 season, no one has more players on the Maxwell Award watchlist than the Ohio State football program. They are tied with the most players. Along with Miami, they have three players on the list. Each player is going to be an important part of the team this year.

One of the players on the watchlist is Emeka Egbuka. Egbuka is the most experienced receiver on the team and is the best one right now. He is probably on his way to being a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. After an injury-plagued 2023, Egbuka is looking for a bounce-back season.

Will Howard is also on the preseason watchlist. Howard is the presumptive starter at quarterback for the Buckeyes and comes in as a transfer from Kansas State. This is going to be the most talented offense he's played with, so he has a real shot at winning some awards.

Quinshon Judkins is the other player on the list. His inclusion is somewhat surprising considering he will likely be the backup to TreVeyon Henderson. Judkins transfers in from Ole Miss and is one of the best running backs in the country. He just might not be better than a health Henderson.

All of these Ohio State football players will need to be elite if the Buckeyes want to win a national championship. If they can be, this could be a truly special team.
