The son of former NBA All-Star interested in Ohio State basketball
By Jacob Rhymer
Jake Diebler is staying active on the recruiting trail in his first offseason as head coach of the Ohio State basketball team. He’s done an excellent job shaping the roster for this upcoming season and is now looking at recruits in the 2025 class. One of Diebler's targets in the 2025 class is a relative to an NBA great and is wanting to move forward in his recruitment process with the Buckeyes.
According to Joe Tipton of On3 Recruits, Kiyan Anthony, the son of 10X NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, has Ohio State as a school he is interested in for basketball at the next level and is looking to visit Columbus in the near future.
Anthony is the 38th overall prospect in the 2025 class according to On3’s rankings, and the 8th ranked prospect at his position. The 6-foot-5 185-pound shooting guard is also looking at visits to Auburn and Indiana, plus already has an offer from Syracuse.
In the early stages of Anthony’s recruitment process, Syracuse is presumed to be the favorite to land the former NBA stars’ son, which makes sense as that is where Carmelo Anthony played his college basketball and won a national championship with the Orange.
Anthony is one of the best scorers in the 2025 class and is deadly behind the three-point line, just like his dad. His length could make him a problem on both ends of the floor with his ability to get deflections and steals on defense as well.
There have not been any commitments from the 2025 recruiting class yet as Diebler’s main focus was to reconstruct the roster for next season. For how good of a recruiter Diebler has been so far, I wouldn’t put it past him to be deep in the recruitment process for Carmelo Anthony’s son.
