The Ohio State football team was looking for a statement win over Michigan State. While the Spartans aren't the best team in the Big Ten, they are the best team the Buckeyes have played so far. It was also the first road test they've had this season, so they wanted to make sure it was a good showing.

In the first half, the defense showed some concerns again. They let Michigan State drive the ball down the field and gain a lot of yards on them on three straight drives. On the first drive, Ohio State stopped them on fourth down. On the other two, they forced fumbles.

While Michigan State did score on a drive after a horrible Will Howard interception, it was the only score that the Ohio State Buckeyes allowed. They went on to win the game 38-7 thanks to a great offensive explosion. The offense showed that they can play with anyone in the country.

Howard had that one horrible throw, but otherwise was solid. He finished the game 21/31/ for 244 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball in for a six-yard touchdown run. While he still needs to be better, Howard is doing enough to put his players into positions where they can be successful.

In total, the Buckeyes had 298 yards of passing and 185 yards rushing. When they have a balance like that, there might not be a team in the country that can beat them. They still have some things to clean up on defense in terms of the run game though.

Jim Knowles is going to work hard to make sure that his unit is better against Iowa and Oregon, the Buckeyes' next two opponents. They need to be in order to keep a clean record.
