Ohio State football vs. Michigan State final odds and prediction
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is ready for their first Big Ten matchup vs. Michigan State. They feel like they can win this game and show that their dominance against bad non-conference competition wasn't a fluke. They are clearly the more talented team, so it's not a stretch to say that they will win this game.
Oddsmakers in Vegas think that the Buckeyes should be able to do that. According to DraftKings, the Buckeyes are 23.5-point favorites. The over/under is set at 48. Based on what the Buckeyes have done so far this year, that line makes a lot of sense. The total seems low though.
So far this year, Ohio State is 2-1 against the spread. The only game in which they did not cover was game one against Akron. Michigan State is the toughest team the Buckeyes have played so far. Can the Ohio State Buckeyes have another big win against Michigan State?
Ohio State football vs. Michigan State final prediction
First off, I think Ohio State's offense is too explosive for Michigan State to corral it for an entire game. They might be able to hold them down in the first quarter, but not for much longer. They have too much talent at both the running back spot and the receiver spot.
Secondly, I think this is the week that the defense starts to make some big plays. They haven't forced a turnover since the season opener against the Zips. I think that changes today. I also think they get more sacks this week after that was a big talking point all week.
Final prediction: Ohio State football 49 Michigan State 10
Ohio State is going to score a lot of points in this game. I think the offense is for real. The offensive line has done a wonderful job blocking in the run game. Michigan State isn't stout enough up front to keep the Buckeyes from gouging them on the ground.
Defensively, I think the Buckeyes are going to be able to keep the Spartans from having too many explosive plays. This should be a stress-free win for the Buckeyes.
