The Ohio State football team now has the top-ranked recruit in the country
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has had a weird 2025 recruiting cycle. Despite having a rough start to August, they still have the best recruiting class in the country. If that were to hold when Signing Day rolls around, it would be the first time they'd have the best recruiting class in school history.
Their best recruit in the class is Tavien St. Clair. St. Clair is a quarterback out of Bellefontaine and is a five-star quarterback. For most of the year, the recruiting services have had him ranked as the second-overall recruit behind Bryce Underwood. That has now changed.
Rivals now has St. Clair as the top-ranked recruit in the country. That means that the Buckeyes will bring in the top recruit in the nation for the second consecutive season. In the 2024 class, they brought in Jeremiah Smith, who has a bunch of hype surrounding him already.

St. Clair has had a meteoric rise up the recruiting ranks. When he was first offered a scholarship by the Ohio State Buckeyes, he was just a three-star recruit. Bellefontaine High School doesn't exactly play the best competition in the state of Ohio when it comes to high school football.
Since then, St. Clair has absolutely torn it up at the different camps he's been at. He was an Elite 11 invitee as well. St. Clair has shown off the physical tools that he has and the sharp mind that makes all of those tools come together. He's someone that every program would love to have.
St. Clair will be fighting two other great quarterbacks for the starting job next season. He'll have to beat out both Julian Sayin and Air Noland for the starting job. If Devin Brown doesn't transfer, he'll be in the mix too. Next season's quarterback battle will be a bloodbath.
