The Ohio State football team is hoping to avoid an upset this weekend from Michigan State. We remember the last time MSU upset the Buckeyes.

The Ohio State football team is taking on Michigan State this weekend. It will be the first Big Ten opponent of the year for the Buckeyes. They still look like the best team in the conference. Every game they've played so far this year, it looks like they are the best team in the country.

Ohio State is currently ranked third in the country and they are hoping to move up the rankings. That likely won't happen this week unless Texas loses because the winner of the Georgia/Alabama game is likely to be at two. An upset would obviously be a disaster for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

As we approach the game this weekend, we look back at the last time that the Buckeyes fell to the Spartans. It was longer ago than you think, but it's certainly a game you remember. It was a decade ago back in 2015 when one of the best Ohio State football teams ever lost at home to a backup quarterback.

Remembering the last time Michigan State beat the Ohio State football team

It was a gross weather game back in 2015. I was at that game. It was actually the final home game I attended as a student, which is depressing. It was cold, rainy, and windy. Because of that, you would think that Urban Meyer would want to give the ball to Ezekiel Elliott and let him run wild.

You'd be wrong. Elliott only got two carries in the second half thanks to a horrendous gameplan from Tim Beck. Ohio State scored just two touchdowns at home and lost on a last-second field goal 17-14. Connor Cook, Michigan State's starting quarterback, didn't even play either.

Ohio State managed just 132 total yards in this game. Meanwhile, Michigan State ran for 203. Tim Beck, who was the co-offensive coordinator and play-caller along with Ed Warinner, had a horrible gameplan. They decided J.T. Barrett should just carry the ball 15 times running the same play.

I highly doubt Chip Kelly will let something like that happen on Saturday night. It should be a much better output offensively from the Buckeyes this time around.
